Hi I am Emily Paige and welcome to my blog. Here is a few words about me so you know who is posting!

I was born in Gainesville Florida, but I moved to Harvest, a suburb of Huntsville Alabama, when I was three.  My next big moved was to Troy, Alabama, where I currently reside and attend Troy University. I love Troy and there is no place I would rather be at this point in my life. I am a junior and a resident assistant in Hamil Hall, a community style dorm. I love being in a community style environment because I get to know my residents better seeing as we all share a bathroom.

I love traveling; I have been on three continents and a handful of different countries. My most recent adventure was to Brazil for 7 weeks, in a mission venture called Cross Cultural Project; that is what drove me to create a blog about CULTURE. I feel as though many students; including myself, do not know much about other countries nor their cultures. We are much more preoccupied with being successful in our own lives and not nearly as worried about what is going on in the rest of the world. That is the reason that I am so excited about this being the topic of my blog! I hope to share some things about other cultures and organizations with the same goal. I am very mission minded and another goal for this blog is to share about missions, serving others, and loving them well while encouraging them no matter what their background is.

One of the other things that I am very passionate about is photography. I have always loved photography! Ever since I got my very first camera in middle school, I have found much joy in taking pictures! During my high school years, I received the opportunity to take 3 years of photography. My first year I worked in a dark room and hand developed film and prints. Then, for the next two years I worked with digital and advanced film media. I can also do alternative process, or digital manipulation, with both hand developed prints and digital media. Portraits are my favorite thing to do! It is a great way to learn more about the people in the photos. I have had the opportunity to do engagement shoots, styled shoots, and event and family photography!

I recently changed my major from Nursing to Multi Media Journalism with a minor in Public Relations. I knew nursing was not for me, and throughout the past couple of years, I have been discovering that I love crafting, graphic design, and other art forms. I really want to work in a form of public relations including writing for blogs, doing advertising, and event planning.

I am a member of the Chi Omega Fraternity where I love being a part of a sisterhood of around 150 women in my chapter alone and many more nationwide. I serve as my chapter’s sisterhood chair, which means that I promote sisterhood and friendship by putting on events such as parents’ days, movie nights and many others!

Purpose:

My purpose for having this blog is from my intro to advertising class. We were lucky enough to be able to pick a topic that we are passionate about for this blog.
